In 2015, our chapter engaged in a variety of social, networking and philanthropic activities. Check out some of our highlights here:
Over the course of the year, we raised money for THON and our local scholarship fund through a variety of activities. Highlights include our 5th annual THON Trivia Night Out and our first ever Boston Harbor Sunset Boat Cruise! Thanks to all who attended and contributed to both philanthropic missions throughout the year. We also hosted our annual Freshmen Sendoff picnic in August, which gave local students an opportunity to meet other Penn State bound freshmen in a potluck style event.
Our social calendar was busy this year! Highlights include: Taza Chocolate Factory Tour, Candlepin Bowling Night, Red Sox vs. Yankees game, Jack's Abbey Brewery tour and Harpoon Brewery tour. We also supported Penn State Basketball in the Big Ten ACC Challenge vs. Boston College - over 100 alumni cheered the Lions on to victory in Chestnut Hill! We also hosted weekly Penn State Football game watches at The Greatest Bar, our Boston game day headquarters.
We gave back to our local community through a variety of service projects this year, including: MS Climb to the Top, Saturday's Bread, Walk for Hunger, Charles River Watershed, Thanksgiving food drive, Cradles to Crayons
Big Ten Boston
We collaborated with our Big Ten friends to host a variety of networking events throughout the year. From roof tops to Harbor views, we enjoyed meeting new and old Big Ten'ers in Beantown. In the spirit of our annual holiday celebration, we collected more than 30 toys and $250 to donate to Toys for Tots! We enjoyed playing Skee-Ball, raffling off door prizes, and enjoying apps and drinks with our Big Ten friends.
Thanks for a great year, see you in 2016!
