Freshmen Reception Committee

The Freshmen Reception Committee each year is responsible for welcoming the new Freshmen Class to the Greater Boston Penn State Family and to Penn State. This committee has three major events each year. The first event is the LionsROAR campaign. From December to May of each year, the University has a campaign to contact all the freshmen who have received offers to Penn State. The Freshmen Reception Committee coordinates the campaign for the greater Boston Chapter and recruits volunteers to contact prospective freshmen by phone or email to congratulate these students on their offers and answer any questions they may have about Penn State. The second event is the Offer reception, which is held in March of each year. The Greater Boston Chapter hosts a reception for all prospective freshmen who have received offers from Penn State. The Committee, coordinating with the Penn State Admissions Office, sets up and runs this event for the Chapter. Board members and Admissions Counselors attend this event and present a slide show and have a question and answer session for the prospective students. The third event is the Freshmen Send Off Picnic. Each year in August the Chapter hosts a picnic for all freshmen (and their families) attending Penn State that upcoming academic year. The committee sets the date, secures a location, sends out invitations, handles RSVPs, and coordinates the food, beverages, activities and raffles for the picnic.

Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee contacts and recruits new Metro Boston residents, sending them a current copy of the Newsletter and membership application. The Hospitality Committee provides assistance to the Membership Chair, Denise Conforti.

The Hospitality Committee is lead by Courtney McDonough (email: hospitality@psuboston.org). If you are interested in becoming part of the Hospitality committee please contact them directly.

Membership Committee
