Annually the Greater Boston Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association hosts the Spring Social and Silent Auction, an event that includes a silent auction to benefit the Freshmen Scholarship Fund, brief voting of new chapter officers, and plenty of food and entertainment. The date of the event has not been set but traditionally occurs in May. Last year, the chapter awarded over $2000 in scholarships to three New England high school graduates who are now attending Penn State.
