TITLE

Social Events Committee Chair


JOB SUMMARY

The Social Events Committee Chair is responsible for leading and directing the efforts of the social events committee including the planning, coordination, and execution of Chapter social activities.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Programs to plan events for the enjoyment of Chapter members and to foster fellowship and Chapter recruitment.
  • Plan and coordinate social events that will engage alumni of varied demographics consisting of but not limited to happy hours, sporting events, cultural and family-oriented activities.
  • Using guidance from the Vice President of Programs, draft an annual calendar of social activities to present to the Board by the second meeting of the fiscal year, and revise calendar as necessary throughout the year.
  • Search for opportunities to provide interactive and enjoyable Chapter sponsored activities with other Greater Boston affiliated organizations.
  • Act as a committee chair when needed for social events.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Programs to recruit alumni to help coordinate and plan specific social events.
  • Provide a inputs for yearly activity budget to the Vice President of Programs.
  • Submit authorized bills to the Treasurer for payment.
  • Communicate event announcements through various mediums of Chapter communication (newsletter, list server, website, event calendar, etc)
  • Submit an event summary report after each social event within two Board meetings of the function.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings to report on social events. If unable to attend a meeting, submit a report to the Vice President of Programs, including but not limited to, upcoming social event dates and details, event planning challenges, ideas, and event analysis reports. Report must be submitted by e-mail no later than two days prior to the Board meeting.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Social Events Committee Chair shall perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Programs, President or Board of Directors.
